For this volume of my newsletter, I’m offering an at-a-glance view of a few emerging new condo projects on the Upper East Side, which has become one of the city's hotbeds for new development activity, as well as some notable market news.

The Upper East Side has been undergoing a long-needed new development boom as of late with dozens of new buildings popping up between Central Park and the East River.

Here are a few of the newest in the works:

Plans have been filed for a new 30-story mixed-use tower at the corner of Second Avenue and East 80th Street. Applications indicate the building will feature 63 apartments and 8,945 square feet of commercial space, with an amenities package expected to include a basketball court, yoga studio, children’s play room, tenant lounges and game rooms.

Five adjacent properties on Third Avenue between East 74th and 75th Streets, currently controlled by Premier Equities, are on the market. Meridian, the firm handling the sale, says one of the best plans for the plot would be to preserve three of the five buildings and erect a tower topping out at around 20 stories in place of the remaining two.

A 15-story condo is expected to go up at 27 East 79th Street, just a stone's throw from former Mayor Bloomberg's manse. The building will house a mix of luxurious duplex and full-floor apartments plus 1,425 square feet of retail on the ground floor, according to filed applications.

Now selling with occupancy expected late next year, The Kent, an Art Deco, 83-unit luxury condo is sure to impress. Designed by noted architects Beyer Blinder Belle with interiors by Alexandra Champalimaud, The Kent will include two-to-five-bedroom homes and three floors of "curated indoor and outdoor services and amenities," including a media room called "The Sound Lounge" designed by rocker Lenny Kravitz.
